The annual Canadian Tulip Festival is one of the largest in the world, with a programme of events taking place at sites along the 15-kilometre tulip route between Ottawa and Gatineau.

The event takes place thanks to the 100,000 tulips given 50 years ago by Holland's Royal Family to the Canadian soldiers who helped liberate the Netherlands during the Second World War. A variety of shows and exhibits are held against a spectacular backdrop of thousands of brightly-coloured flowers. Family entertainment includes concerts, the Tulip Explosion floral design show and a parade on water.
