On this special evening the beautiful Gothic Town Hall on Gouda Market Square is illuminated by candlelight, while the surrounding buildings are lit with Christmas trees and fairy lights to give the town that festive feel.

The city organises a range of activities through out the day from 10am onwards, including a Christmas fashion show. In the evening the Mayor of Gouda reads the story of the Nativity and then the townspeople and local choir gather around the main Christmas tree in the centre of the square to sing carols.
