Argentina's first Pride took place in 1992 and the event has been gradually gathering momentum ever since, having some success in increasing legal protection for gays, lesbians and transgendered people.
Despite the advances in gay civil rights, the gay community still feels under siege from abuse from the general public and the police. Transgendered people are still highly vulnerable to physical attack. Out and proud in force, the GLBT of Argentina intend to make their voices very much heard during the march as a safe critical mass.
