There can be few festivals that have such a picturesque setting, or that have such an amazing range of different musical styles on offer. If you're interested in opera, jazz, blues, brass or steel bands, then there are great treats in store for you. Chamber music, piano recitals and orchestral concerts also feature during a month of magnificent music.

Snape Maltings is the home of Aldeburgh Music, the organisation that continues the tireless work of Benjamin Britten (who was Suffolk-born and settled in Aldeburgh, a stone's throw away), and the beautiful concert hall is built in the old maltings building. For more than 50 years there has been an annual festival in June founded by Britten and Peter Pears, and now every August the whole of the month is given to a popular summer music festival.

With the coastline one of England's geographical gems, and the Suffolk countryside packed full of architectural, agricultural and historical interest, a trip to Snape and Aldeburgh at this time is highly recommended.

Full details of this year's programme are published on the Aldeburgh Music website as soon as they are available.
