Dance among live piranhas, crocodiles and other deep sea predators at this ultra-hot joint in the Monnot district of Beirut.

This is one place that takes the idea of Atlantis seriously. Situated in the 120-year-old stable of a typically 19th-century Lebanese villa, the club is multi-levelled, has very high ceilings adorned with the original vaults of the building, a dance floor that rises and is filled with live piranhas and a bar filled with sea predators. Inside your table there will more than likely be baby crocodiles having a swim.
The building was half-destroyed during the war and meticulously rebuilt. It has a beautiful courtyard at the entrance that will soon become an open-air bistro/brasserie, open during the day. The interior opens around 9pm and has an excellent international menu of, well yes, seafood. The music is a mix of jazz, samba, world music and some light electronica. The place is transformed into a club at around 12.30am, with a mix of uplifting house, acid jazz, fusion, drum'n'bass, some jungle and some Arabic music.
During the week Atlantis is a venue for live music. There is also a newly-opened theatre above the club where you can dine and see the the live acts.
There is a door policy - be well dressed, the management prefers mainly couples, or a mixed group of male and female. If you have dinner you can stay until later.
