The Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ is an international event like no other. Taking place in the tiny town of Lynchburg Tennessee (population 400, plus or minus), the event draws 35 BBQ teams from around the world to compete for the US$15,000 in prizes.

Along with the cooking, visitors are treated to a county fair of sorts featuring cloggers, dulcimer and country music and even an "ugly dog contest." And then there is the BBQ: bring a big plate and expect to stand in a queue for some of the greatest BBQ this side of the Mason-Dixon Line. The people are hospitable and the atmosphere is decidedly Southern, so prepare for some insight into America.

Lynchburg Tennesse - the location of the contest and the namesake of JDs popular pre-mixed drink, Lynchburg Lemonade - is the seat of the state of Tennessee's smallest county. Interestingly, Moore County has been home to the Jack Daniel Distillery since 1866, yet it is a dry county and has been ever since Prohibition days.
