iT Nightclub
When:
31 Dec 2000
Where:
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of Europe’s favourite destinations for clubbers, party people and louche types in general. Some of the more enthusiastic millennial revellers might only just have shaken off their hangovers, but that hasn’t stopped the city’s clubs from pulling out all the stops for New Year 2000/2001.

The big-name venues will all be hosting massive parties. Melkweg have two floors of music at their Oud & Nieuw bash, along with some late-night movies for the less energetic. The Paradiso’s Pinguins in Space night is also offering two floors of techno, while Chemistry’s 2001: A Space Odyssey at Escape sees resident DJs Dimitri and Marcello heading a line-up of top European talent.
Dimitri and Marcello will also be playing at Amsterdam’s biggest floating party, the Loveboat, which will be going until 9am on 1 January. Elsewhere, Mazzo will be having a marginally less frenetic night of techno, house and trance; Club iT is hosting an outrageous night of house and high NRG and the organisers of Canal Pride’s White Party are having a champagne-fuelled evening at Club More with Hallelujah 2001.
Over at Kremlin (‘where Lada meets Pravda’), it’s a strictly red, black and silver affair. The Winston Kingdom’s loungecore night, Vegas 2001 is ‘space trash’ only and people deemed to have made an insufficient effort on their outfits are likely to be turned away. But the big prize for the most exclusionary party has to go to the ultra-fashionable Sinners in Heaven, who refuse to reveal any details of their New Year’s plans on the grounds that it’s members only and we wouldn’t get in.
