Nyon's Paleo Festival is one of Switzerland's best-kept secrets. One of the friendliest events around, it welcomes more than 40,000 visitors each night to its beautiful fields with their view of Lake Geneva and the Alps.

The event takes place just 25km (14 miles) from Geneva. Highlights of the 2009 line-up include Placebo, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, Franz Ferdinand, The Ting Tings, Moby, Amy MacDonald, Pete Doherty, TV on the Radio and Tracy Chapman. The Village du Monde presents Trilok Gurtu and Erik Truffaz & Malcom Braff, with Apurba & Idrani Mukherjee, amongst others.
A crèche and play areas appeal to families, while campers have showers and a campsite built on a grid system to avoid those lost-tent moments. Hundreds of stalls from around the world offer a variety of wonderful food. All in all, top music, a good crowd, sun and wine make this one of Europe's best festivals.
