ZoukOut, Singapore's largest dance music festival, keeps trendy crowds partying from dusk till dawn on the palm tree-lined Siloso Beach. The 14-hour music menu is also accompanied by a host of fringe events, roving costumed performers and chill-out areas.

The ZoukOut dance festival is an outdoor spin-off of Singapore's most famous nightclub, Zouk. Clubbers dance on the sand come rain or shine to a broad spectrum of styles from cutting-edge electronic dance to hip-hop, R&B and retro, bringing together the world's best DJs over three music arenas.
Highlights of ZoukOut 2008 included French group Nouvelle Vague's sunset session, who warmed up the crowd with rock covers like Guns of Brixton by The Clash. Then, The Teenagers' colourful lyrics got the audience jumping at the Velvet Underground Arena while laser kites ducked and dived overhead in an aerial show by GoFlyKite. Things really charged up around 4am in the Main Arena during Sasha's set, and then trance group Above & Beyond took over and really got everyone's hands in the air as the sun rose.
For those who want to escape the jumping crowds for a breather, there's a host of entertaining fringe activities. Why not soar over the festival site on a bungee trampoline? Or relax your muscles with a back rub in the massage tent? The Singtel VIP Yacht is a popular spot, where guys and girls gossip together, while soaking their clubbed-out feet in the pool.
As the festival draws to a close, transport back home can be a bit of a headache. Taxis are in huge demand on ZoukOut night, and traffic crawls along the road connecting Sentosa Island to mainland Singapore. The best option is to book a hotel room on Sentosa Island and walk to and from the party - you won't regret it. The Rasa Shangri-La is a luxury option right on Siloso Beach and the Sentosa Resort and Spa - about a 20-minute walk away - is a tranquil spot.
