High-end ‘Harvey Nics’, flea-market fashions and everything in between.
Shopping Streets
It’s impossible to bypass the dominating Bullring, with its numerous shops
and the disc-encrusted Selfridges, whose shiny design was inspired by the
Paco Rabanne chainmail dress. Browse hand-crafted earrings and brooches in the
Georgian Jewellery Quarter and splash out at luxury fashion emporium The
Mailbox, a former sorting office now housing top names like Harvey Nichols and
Jaeger.
Barter with stall-vendors at Digbeth’s lively food and rag markets, which run Monday
to Saturday opposite St. Martin’s Church. The Custard Factory’s flea markets
on both Saturdays and Sundays attract trendy types hunting for quirky vintage wear
or printed T-shirts.
Standard shopping hours are Monday-Saturday 9.30am-6pm (late-night opening Thursday),
Sunday 11am-5pm. Late-night shoppers should head to the Bullring (Mon-Sat until 8pm)
and The Mailbox (Thurs-Sat until 7pm).
