Take a hat and sunscreen in the summer, when temperatures easily reach 30°C or more. Pack gloves in winter, when things can get chilly (+10C to -10C). July and August are the hottest months, February the coldest. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when conditions are pleasant.

People-watching is a favourite Romanian pastime, so don't be surprised if you feel a bit observed in the parks and gardens – join in! Dress simply and don't sport your camera too prominently.
