Cleveland - Prepare

Bring a curious spirit and a flexible game plan. Be ready for high-brow, low-brow and everything in between.

Cleveland Year

Catch new talent at the Cleveland International Film Festival in March, tap your toes to the Tri-C Jazz Fest in April, or get grungy at the CMJ Rock Hall Music Fest in May. Foodies can flock to the West Side for July's Taste of Tremont, and twins can celebrate August's Twins Day Festival, held in Twinsburg (30km southeast of town). Pig out at the Taste of Cleveland in early September and shop, bop and drop during Holiday CircleFest in early December.

Public Holidays

New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr, Birthday (15 Jan), Presidents' Day (third Monday in Feb), Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Independence Day (4 July), Labour Day (first Monday in Sept), Columbus Day (second Monday in Oct), Veterans Day (11 Nov), Thanksgiving (last Thursday in November), Christmas Day (25 Dec).

Weather

The best time to visit is from late spring to early autumn; summer temperatures are moderately hot, peaking at around 20°C. These also tend to be the wetter months, so be prepared for a shower. Winters temperatures usually drop below freezing.

Electricity

120V AC, 60 Hz, two- and three-pin plugs are standard.

Fit In

You'd be hard put to shock Cleveland, where the latest fashions rub shoulders with retro looks of decades past. With a vaguely 'New York' look you would fit in at most of the upscale places.
