Armani stores, then head further down Westheimer to shop at local boutiques. Try
Rice Villagefor casual chic, university cool and kid stuff, and kit
yourself out in cowboy finery along Westheimer. Grab gourmet salsa, cheeses
and picnic fare at Central Market on Wesleyan Road.
Houston's market scene is growing. The Midtown Farmer's
Market – at local celeb chef Monica Pope's T'afia
restaurant – is bursting with fresh produce and organic specialities every
Saturday (hours vary by season). On the first Saturday of each month, the Yale
Street Arts Market showcases local art talent in the 1890s Heights neighbourhood.
Avoid the Galleria on weekends and holidays, and expect traffic jams around the mega
mall on Westheimer and Post Oak Boulevard. Standard shopping hours are
Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm for boutiques, while the mall stores and some larger
retailers stay open until 9pm. Sunday hours generally run noon-6pm.
