Take home a little bit of Cuba with a hand-stitched guaybera shirt from Little Havana, haute couture from North Beach or vintage from groovy South Beach.
Buy vintage thrift on Washington Avenue, boutique cosmetics and jeans on Lincoln Road, Latin American imports and New Age books on Espanola Way, Gucci handbags and Jimmy Choo shoes in Bal Harbour, trinkets for friends at Bayside Marketplace, wedding invitations along the Miracle Mile, and a Cuban good luck charm on Calle Ocho.
For food and hemp products, try the Coconut Grove Organic Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. Pick up incense and Indian imports from Espanola Way's Mediterranean storefronts, which close to traffic on Sunday afternoons. Dig for bargains at Flagler Race Track, or the Opa Locka-Hialeah Flea Market in South Florida.
Downtown is dead on weekends. You will need a car to get to flea markets in outlying areas. Standard shopping hours are Monday-Saturday 9.30am-6.30pm (late-nights Friday and Saturday), Sunday 11am-5pm. Markets open weekends.
