If Montreal knows how to do one thing, then it knows how to throw a party. Crescent Street in Westmount or Saint Catherine Street near the Village are among the liveliest - and everyone's invited.
Much of the nightlife is packed into the area around Crescent Street. Busy bars include Winnie's and Newtown with its terrace and beautiful people.
Saint-Catherine Street is the hub of the Village. Le Drugstore and Club Unity pack in different crowds, who come together at after-hours venues such as Circus and Mp3 Afterhours. The fashion police are out in force so dress to impress.
Quickly becoming the area to see and be seen, Old Montreal is full of shiny cocktail bars and clubs such as Suite 701 and the Wunderbar in the W boutique hotel.
Montreal parties later than most other Canadian cities. Bars and clubs serve drinks till 3am, and there are a number of after-hours clubs such as Red Lite in Laval that go on till late morning.
Party in the Village to the huge local club hit, How Would U Feel, by resident DJ David Morales, shop on St Denis Street to I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow, and rollerblade along the St Lawrence River with a burst of summertime energy from Pump It Up by Elvis Costello.
