Tuck into hearty Czech sausages and sauerkraut if you've worked up a hearty appetite, or eat something lighter at one of Prague’s newer, international restaurants.
Tourists and locals tuck into everything from sushi and pasta to fine, innovative Czech cuisine in the smart but laid-back restaurants of Staré Mesto. No visit to Josefov is complete without trying an authentic kosher meal of gefilte fish cakes or chicken soup, Jewish penicillin.
Prague’s New Town has cheap-and-filling pub grub washed down with a pilsner. Here you’ll find busy pizzerias and old-style cafeterias, alongside some of the country’s best Czech and international restaurants.
Clubbing hot spot Vinohrady is full of restaurants and bistros patronised by trendy young Praguers. Upmarket restaurants serve international menus accompanied by the latest cocktail lists. Elsewhere, Thai, Mexican and contemporary Czech restaurants compete for business.
Many restaurants in the city centre are open till midnight or even later, especially in Vinohrady and Staré Mesto. Some of the pricier restaurants offer reasonable lunchtime menus. Service charges are rarely included in the bill in Prague restaurants. A discretionary 10-15% tip for good service is appreciated.
