Cycle round Paquetá, a quiet, laid-back island in the Guanabara bay. Visit the Imperial Museum and glimpse the neoclassical and Germanic chalets in cool, mountainous Petrópolis, one-time summer retreat of Emperor Dom Pedro II. Drive past some of Rio's most beautiful and wild beaches such as Prainha or Grumari, to have a picturesque meal in Guaratiba. Book a boat trip to the nearby Ilhas Trópicais, or prepare a picnic and enjoy it at gurgling waterfalls in the Subsede do Parque Nacional da Serra dos Orgãos.
