Eat hearty, meaty Estonian cuisine with a pint, taste the world, or spend on the
city's exclusive hotel restaurants.
Medieval: Old Town
Find Russian, Indian and international cuisine on Old Town Square , with other
ethnic dishes served up in the surrounding streets. The medieval-themed Old Hansa on
Vana turg is a must for its traditional-recipe Estonian rich games
dishes, beer and costumed waiting staff.
Venture south of the Old Town and be rewarded with world cuisines. The Japanese
restaurants along Narva mnt are a good bet, but the real winner is the classy
Novell restaurant at the Reval Hotel for tender beef fillets and roast duck. As
Narva becomes Parnu mnt, choose from Argentinian, Hungarian, Indian and
Chinese food. Mere pst is home to one of Tallinn's most fashionable
restaurants – the contemporary Ö – with its menu of
sushi and international cuisine.
Most eateries (give or take an hour) open from 11am to 11pm. If you've got
your heart set on a specific place, it pays to book in advance. It is customary to
tip 10% for service in a café or restaurant.
