On the weekends many Torontonians escape the city for cottage country to the north,
particularly in the Kawartha, Muskoka and Georgian Bay lake regions.
Escape to the Canadian Shield – a huge rocky section of the country,
dusted with forests of pine and maple trees. Golfers follow the Muskoka Golf trail from
Gravenhurst to Huntsville, while you can also canoe or take a dog sled
in Algonquin Park.
Kleinburg is home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, with its
dominant collection being the Group of Seven. This school of painters showcased
the natural Canadian landscape in the early 20th century. Finally, a trip to Toronto
wouldn't be complete without a drive round the lake to the mighty Niagara Falls.
Get ready for a soaking!
