Cool off from the sunshine in a waterpark or theme park, or exercise your brain at the science or television centres.
Strap yourself into dozens of thrilling rides at Canada's Wonderland, and go back in time at the Black Creek Pioneer Village. Discover soundwaves and satellites at the Ontario Science Centre, or see some of history's most fabulous footwear at the Bata Shoe Museum. Wander through High Park – once a 400-acre country farm – with its lake and Victorian Colborne Lodge in summer, and go for an ice skate at Nathan Phillips Square in winter.
For a fantastic view from a plateau overlooking the city centre, pay a visit to Casa Loma. Stroll through the landscaped gardens inside the walls of this 19th-century Scottish-influenced castle.
The Bata Shoe Museum just north of the University of Toronto campus has a large collection of celebrity shoes. These include pairs that caressed the feet of Elton John and Marilyn Monroe – and supported the in-steps of Napoleon and Queen Victoria.
