During the birthday of Pak Tai, offerings are made at temples dedicated to the Taoist god of the sea who defeated the Demon king and became the "Emperor of Dark Heaven". Taipa village's Pak Tai temple hosts vibrant operatic celebrations.

Closest to the mainland, Taipa was accessible only by ferry until 1974, when the Macau-Taipa Bridge was finally completed. Taipa village is a small traditional community of narrow lanes, alleys, squares, and two-story colonial buildings painted in hues of yellow, blue, and green.
Directions:The easiest way to reach Taipa village is via one of the buses that stops in front of the Hotel Lisboa near the bridge on the mainland. Buses 11, 15, 22, 28A, 30, 33, 34, and 35 all go to Taipa village.
