International Film Festival
More than 50 years old, the International Film Festival takes place in Mannheim and Heidelberg, bringing together young cinema artists and experienced international filmmakers.
Over the years the event has earned a reputation for successfully promoting directors who have made themselves a name in their own country but remain unknown abroad.
From a pool of more than 2500 films, around 35 are selected to be presented. The films, mainly fiction but also documentaries and shorts, are produced in countries all over the world and have not been shown at any other festival. The event attracts more than 1000 accredited guests and 60,000 spectators every year.
