Victor Horta is Belgium's most celebrated Art Nouveau architect. The Horta Museum in Châtelain is Horta's former home and studio, with a sinuous staircase inspired by vegetation, twisting metal with asymmetric patterns and carved details on the furniture.

Behind the plain exterior hides a stunning and romantic decor. Horta's subtle use of hidden supporting structures allowed him to create smooth sweeping architectural shapes and maintain Art Nouveau's predilection for curves over harsh straight lines.

The museum also houses an extensive Centre de Documentation where visitors can view Horta's drawings and designs and read up on the Art Nouveau movement.
