when:Daily
where:Heidelberg

One of Germany's most beautiful cities, Heidelberg is famous in particular for its picturesque Altstadt, or Old Town. Small winding alleys and old houses make this historic part of the city a little world of its own.

Simply walk around to soak up the atmosphere. Visit the old town hall, the Holy Spirit Church in the market square, or get lost in one of the many small shops in the area. The city also has an old castle and hosts Germany's oldest university, built in 1386, both worth a visit.

Despite its cosy historic flair, modern Heidelberg remains cosmopolitan and dynamic, making it a favourite destination for younger and older generations alike.
