Festival of the May Crosses

when:May 2010 (annual)
where:Granada
cost:Free

Granada celebrates the Festival of the May Crosses by decorating its plazas, balconies, pavements and railings with eye-catching floral displays. The decorated "crosses" become focal points of dancing, singing and general merrymaking.

The event comes second only to its sister city, Cordoba, which prides its international reputation on its own festival. The districts in Granada most noted for their decorations are Albaicín and El Realejo. Consider the detour even if flowers are not your thing, if only to take in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
