On the Sunday following Corpus Christi, the Catalonian town of Sitges celebrates by decorating some of its streets with intricate floral carpets. Made up of grass, rice and carnation petals, they are known as alfombras de flores.
Throughout the day people gather in the main plaza before an altar, where a great mass of carnation petals is then released.
If you want to see some more intact carnations, then venture down to the National Carnation Exhibition in the gardens of L'Hort de Can Falc, where blooms from all over Europe are on display.
