The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse in the USA. Despite its tremendous growth since its birth in 1963, the emphasis is still on one-to-one chat between exhibitors and art lovers.
Around 150,000 visitors head to Coconut Grove annually for the festival, which is held on McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive. Roughly 330 of the finest contemporary artists from around the Americas show everything from painting and drawing to digital art and jewellery.
Increasing competition for display areas means the standard has remained exceptionally high, but has led to some of the more bizarre stands being displaced.
Concerts (particularly by top jazz artists), a selection of ethnic and international food and hands-on art workshops for kids complete the programme.
