The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse in the USA. Despite its tremendous growth since its birth in 1963, the emphasis is still on one-to-one chat between exhibitors and art lovers.
Around 150,000 visitors head to Coconut Grove every year during the festival, which is held on McFarlane Rd, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive. Around 330 of the finest contemporary artists from around the Americas show everything from painting, drawing and watercolour to digital art and jewellery.
Increasing competition for the display areas means the standard has remained exceptionally high, but has led to some of the more bizarre stands being displaced. The range of styles and the mixture of both world and local artists at Coconut Grove Arts Festival leads to continued variety.
Concerts (particularly by top jazz artists), a selection of ethnic and international food and hands-on art workshops for kids complete the programme.
