Jaipur's magnificent Nahargarh Fort was built by Sawai Raja Jai Singh in 1734. Standing on a rugged peak of the Aravalli mountain range it is a beautiful picnic site with views of the Man Sagar lake and the city below.
According to legend, the fort was named after a prince whose spirit used to haunt the site, causing mischief to delay the building's construction. Finally, after a Tantric prayer, his spirit agreed to leave on the condition that the fort be named after him.
