Held in Castelfranco di Sotto, Pisa, the Barchini Boat Race sees four vessels equipped with wheels competing on dry land. The boats, representing the town districts, are pushed by groups of "rowers" in a three-lap circuit around the main square.
There are also music events, a 12th-century catwalk show and a historic re-enactment in period costumes.
