Tucson's Juneteenth celebration is a state-wide festival that commemorates the release of the last enslaved Americans. Kennedy Park is the place to visit for live entertainment, food and a range of family activities.

Recognised as America's second Independence Day by the Congress of the United States in 1997, Juneteenth is observed as a holiday in a number of states including Texas, Oklahoma and the District of Columbia. The festival celebrates 19 June 1865 - the day General Gordon Grainger announced that the last remaining enslaved Americans be freed, two and a half years after the official Emancipation Proclamation.

Tucson's Kennedy Park is a regular host of outdoor concerts and events, including the annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration. The 10-acre park offers sports fields, a swimming pool and an urban fishing lake, amongst others.
