Madrid's Vallecas district honours its patron saint, Virgen del Carmen, with a lively water fight, or 'Naval Battle'. Thousands turn up with pirate costumes, buckets and hoses and saturate fellow festival-goers. Giant paellas, concerts and after-parties add to the celebrations.
