Taking its name from the route that was used for centuries to transport silk from China to the Mediterranean via Syria, the Silk Road festival is a commemoration of the crossroads of cultures and civilisations that the silk commerce brought about. It is held every September in Syria, touring key cities such as Palmyra, Damascus and Aleppo.
For three days these ancient cities are the stage for music performances, art exhibitions, sporting events, seminars, competitions and much more, representing each and every culture once involved in the trade of the precious fabric.
Specific event details are published on the Syrian Tourism website as soon as they are available.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
