The Farnborough International Airshow is the world's premier international aerospace trade show, first held in 1948. Taking place at Farnborough Airfield, the show features a trade convention during the week and a public extravaganza on Saturday and Sunday.

With around 1200 exhibitors from 25 countries, this enormous show exhibits the latest in avionics and aerotechnology from around the world, while added attractions include daily displays from the Red Arrows.

The event includes about 200 aircraft on display, both static and flying, spanning right through the years to the Eurofighter, as well as mock-ups of experimental aircraft and weapons systems. The 2008 Farnborough Air Show also saw the cold-war era Vulcan bomber return to the skies after a £6 million restoration project.

Farnborough presents a unique opportunity to see passenger aircraft take to the skies alongside their military counterparts show off to the general public in a way very rarely seen anywhere else in the world. Three hundred thousand turn out to this biennial event to get up close and personal with the latest military and civilian hardware, including the new Airbus A380 - the largest passenger aircraft in service today.
