Around 300,000 literature lovers visit the Messe Frankfurt for the most famous book fair in the world - the Frankfurt Book Fair. Numerous exhibitions, covering topics as diverse as art books, comics and trade-oriented themes, complement thousands of book stands.

The fair aims to explore new developments and trends in literature, media and science, encourage the exchange of ideas and opinions, set up meetings with writers and, of course, vigorously promote books and multimedia products of every kind.

With a focus on tradition and continuity as well as innovative literature and media products, the fair is a mirror of the whole cultural field of the written word and one of the key international meeting places for those in publishing.

The artistic highpoint of the fair is the award of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. Each year the fair honours one "guest of honour", and in 2009, it's China.

Full details of the programme for all groups of attendees are available on the festival website.
