Fête des Voisins/Immeubles en Fête
If you see groups out on Paris' streets on 28 May, chances are they're taking part in the Immeubles en Fête (Apartment Block Party) initiative. You might even get invited to a party yourself.
The Fête des Voisins has proved so popular that copycat schemes now take place across France and further afield, including Brussels, Geneva, Dublin, Rome, Luxembourg, Birmingham and Manchester.
Some 550 French mairies and social clubs take part each year, organising get-togethers
but it's the individuals holding bespoke parties in apartment blocks across Paris and the rest of France that give the festival its real character. Visit the website for more details.
