Held in the evening to make the most of the twinkling Christmas lights, the Basel City Run attracts around 8000 participants, including elite athletes. The route takes in the central Münsterplatz square, the old town and the city's bridges.

| Directions: | By Train: Basel has two train stations, straddling three countries (Switzerland, France, Germany), the Basel SBB and Bale SNCF. Both are 10 minutes' walking distance from the city centre. Basel Badischer Bahnhof Station (Basel Bad.) is further away and serves local routes.
By Road: from Bern or Zurich, take the N1 highway, or the N2 from Luzern. Follow the roads into Basel-City. By Air: Basel EuroAirport connects to Basel SBB by train. |
