Penny Siopis
Through paint, ink and viscous glue on canvas and paper, Penny Siopis gives expression to various emotional states at once. Her latest work, including the striking large-scale canvas Migrants, is on show at the Michael Stevenson gallery in Cape Town.
Siopis was born in Vryburg in 1953 and is based in Johannesburg, where she is Associate Professor in Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand. She has exhibited extensively both locally and internationally.
