Depeche Mode
Doom-laden synth-rock gods Depeche Mode bring their extensive tour in support of new album, Sounds of the Universe, to the HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg.
Depeche Mode have sold more than 75 million albums since their debut release of catchy synth-pop, Speak and Spell, made the UK top ten in 1981.
The band found US success as they moved towards a heavier, more percussive sound and the 1993 album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, topped both the US and UK charts. The subsequent 14-month world tour proved to be stressful, resulting in drug addiction, health problems and the departure of a band member.
The group healed itself over the subsequent years, returning with the 1997 release of Ultra, while 2005 album, Playing the Angel, was unanimously hailed as their best for years.
