Coniston Country Fair

Walking Stick Show at the annual Coniston Country Fair

when:Jul 2011 (annual)
where:Coniston Hall Farm

Every year the Coniston Country Fair at Coniston Hall Farm presents a wide range of rural entertainment, featuring everything from duck penning by sheepdog to dressed sticks.

There are numerous competitions into which to enter your prized hounds, beagles, terriers, lurchers, sheep, sheepdogs and pets. With children's sports, trade stands, slate dressing, a craft tent, a refreshments marquee and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, visitors won't be disappointed.

The day also includes a fell race up the Old Man of Coniston, rising 803 metres high to the west of the village. It's about a six mile course and, following the reintroduction of the event at the 2005 Coniston Country Fair for over 18s (having last been run in 1993), a junior version is being introduced in 2006.
