First held in 1970, the Reykjavík Arts Festival celebrates the arts with a vibrant mix of national and international performances throughout the island. Music, visual arts and theatre are all represented.
In 2010, the festival offers a variety of grand scale, elite events and, of course, a celebratory atmosphere as the festival marks its 40th anniversary. Headline acts in the festival's first year included Led Zeppelin and in the intervening decades the festival has continued to attract a diverse range of internationally renowned musicians, artists and authors.
Always eagerly anticipated, this year's festival promises a particularly exciting programme as all of Reykjavik joins to celebrate this special anniversary.
