London Dungeon
Bloodthirsty youngsters can brave the murky chambers and ghost towers of the London Dungeon, where interactive exhibits recreate everything from the Great Plague and Great Fire to the darker corners of Victorian London.
Visitors can take a terrifying tour in the footsteps of two infamous London characters: murderer Jack the Ripper and revengeful barber Sweeney Todd, while Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom makes you, as a condemned prisoner, submit to the hooded hangman for the final drop...
Traitor, Boat Ride to Hell transports you backwards to a watery descent that might just end up in Hell. Or you could simply lose yourself in the world's largest and scariest mirror maze, Labyrinth of the Lost, where - they say - "only the brave will survive, only the clever will prosper."
The remaining two themed areas are a little more based on fact. Indeed the Great Plague and the Great Fire followed one another in 17th-century London. Witness the pustules of death and streets full of bodies, just like it was in 1665, before feeling hot and bothered in the Great Fire that started just over London Bridge on Pudding Lane in 1666.
If you haven't been scared enough, remember that the London Dungeon is within walking distance of the Tower of London itself, the oldest fortress and prison in Europe.
