when:Jun 2010 (annual)
where:Parc La Grange
cost:Free
time:Competition begins 2pm

Geneva's international rose competition brings colour and excitement to the city's parks and gardens. The main event is at the city's Parc La Grange.

The annual rose competition was introduced back in 1947 by the city's Horticultural Society. Rose growers from a variety of different countries test their green fingers, but only one will win the rose d'or.

The event kicks off in the afternoon. During the competition the pressure is on, and members of the public are asked either to be extremely quiet or to visit the park (and see the winning roses) later in the afternoon. The jury members hail from all over the world and the winning roses are granted a plot of earth in the park.
