Let your hair down, kick off your flip-flops and dance in the sand at this weekend of free concerts on a huge stage on Virginia Beach. The event features top beach music from a range of entertaining bands.
For those of you who are wondering, "beach" music was a movement which exploded in the Sixties after the famous music magazine Billboard announced "Swing is dead; bands are out and vocalists are in."
Unfortunately the scene, often fuelled by alcohol, was not exposed to anyone under the age of 21, which led to the waning of its popularity and commercially it was left behind. In recent years it has had a resurgence and is now as popular as ever.
