Chalmette Battlefield in New Orleans, Louisiana springs back to life with the Battle of New Orleans Celebration, a flashback to the events of 1812, which saw an American victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans.

As well as a taste of the battle, with British and American encampments, during the Battle of New Orleans Celebration many people dress in period costume and there are artillery demonstrations and tours of the area.

One of six sites in Louisiana that form the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, Chalmette Battlefield is the site of the January 8, 1815, Battle of New Orleans. The beautiful open meadow is equipped with a visitor centre and museum housed in the Beauregard House. Visitors can also pay their respects to fallen soldiers of the Civil War at the Chalmette National Cemetery, adjacent to the fields.
