when:15 May 2010 (annual)
where:France
cost:Free
time:7pm-1am

Hundreds of museums across France open for free for one night each May, offering a chance to see the country's finest collections from dusk until 1am. Participating cities include Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Cannes.

The Nuit des Musées is an initiative launched by the French Department of Culture in 2005. Some 1000 museums throughout France and Europe open to the public, to a background of debates and exhibitions, all for no charge.

Participating museums are announced in the run-up to the day, but it is almost certain that there will be a free museum in your vicinity. Visit the website for details.
