Fillmore Street Jazz Festival
Summertime and Independence Day are celebrated along 11 blocks of San Francisco's Fillmore Street (between Jackson and Eddy) as jazz pulsates from three stages. The Fillmore Jazz Festival is a two-day celebration in a very special jazz neighbourhood.
Fillmore Street's jazz roots date back to the 1940s when legends like Fitzgerald, Ellington, Holliday, Parker and Coltrane competed for crowds in its many jazz clubs.
Over the years, Fillmore's organic jazz scene evolved into an annual festival, which in turn led to the creation of San Francisco's Jazz Preservation District, home to jazz and blues clubs, restaurants and speciality stores.
Today the area continues to echo the music of its birth, embracing diversity and celebrating personal style. The festival keeps that spirit alive.
