Jacksonville Film Festival

when:May 2010 (annual)
where:Jacksonville
cost:US$35-US$250

The Jacksonville Film Festival offers more than 30 screenings of the best Hollywood can offer. There are also courses in screenwriting, panel discussions and parties at venues around Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jacksonville Film Festival aims to celebrate the art of filmmaking by bringing independent and international film to the Florida audience. Conceived in spring 2002, the event's mission was threefold: to connect Jacksonville to its early "Hollywood of the South" moviemaking roots; to focus attention on independent film and filmmakers; and to contribute to the revitalisation of downtown Jacksonville. The first film shown at the festival was The Flying Ace, made in Jacksonville in 1926 by the Norman Studios, which had not been seen in 75 years.

Embraced by the city and gaining increasing recognition in the Southeast, the festival has become an important destination for the independent film community. Please visit the website for the full screening programme.
